Dr. Jeff Geschwind - Leader in Interventional Oncology
Dr. Jeff Geschwind is a physician-scientist whose career has focused on advancing the treatment of liver cancer through image-guided therapies and innovative drug development. Recognized internationally as one of the pioneers of interventional oncology, Dr. Jeff Geschwind founded the World Conference on Interventional Oncology, was first president of the Society of Interventional Oncology, wrote the first textbook dedicated to Interventional Oncology, and has published nearly300 scientific manuscripts in leading medical journals resulting in a Google Scholar H-index of 89..
Licensed in Connecticut and New York, Dr. Jeff Geschwind currently serves as the Medical Director of Oncology, Image-Guided Therapy, and Imaging Core Lab at NAMSA (one of the largest contract research organizations in the country) and as a Physician Advisor for HistoSonics, where he is part of teh Medical Affairs Team. At HistoSonics, he supports clinical cases, and contributes to scientific publications, grant applications, and imaging guidelines. Dr. Geschwind is also a scientific consultant for Philips Healthcare.
Previously, Dr. Geschwind served as Director of Oncology at USA Vein Clinics, where he developed specialized cancer care centers using interventional oncology procedures to treat patients. Prior to that, he was the Chairman of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the Yale School of Medicine.
Dr. Geschwind earned his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine before completing radiology residency training at the University of California, San Francisco. He did his fellowship training in vascular and interventional radiology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, before joining the faculty at Johns Hopkins as an assistant professor before quickly ascending to the directorship of the Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He was promoted to Professor of Radiology, Surgery, and Oncology as one of the youngest ever in the Department of Radiology at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
